SUNNY DAY SETS FIRE
The story of the London based four pieces conception goes back a couple of years when vocalist Mauro and drummer Onyee met over popcorn and hotdogs while working as ushers at their local cinema, the tedium of repeat viewings of the latest slice of Hollywood slop relieved only by impromptu songwriting sessions.
Mauro and Onyee started out playing the occasional gig as a duo, they were eventually joined by their friend, and multi instrumentalist, Max and life began as a fully-fledged trio in late 2004. The band found their direction by the middle of 2005. Just recently they expanded and welcomed bassist and keys man Ed.
With an eye firmly focused on the soaring beauty of classic pop moments, the band set to work coming up with a collection of tracks that reflected their shared loves – 60's psych, the Beach Boys, classic Sun rock ‘n' roll and far beyond.
The band is unsigned & has lots of interest from labels & publishers across the board.
The Band released their debut single Brainless / Nations Underground through Brikabrak records on March 6th 2006 which was XFM play listed and supported by Zane Low/Fresh Meat + MTV2 Brand Spanking new.
A very welcomed follow up single Wilderness/Green Clouds has been released thru WI 45 Recordings on June the 19th.
Wilderness is a breezy slice of wonky, infectious pop that recalls Arcade Fire or the Polyphonic Spree, while B side, Green Clouds twits, turns and bleeps like the errant offspring of Radiohead and Sigur Ros.
What the Press/Media Say:
XFM
"Imagine an upbeat Postal Service with added trumpets, and drums, the volume turned high and ‘Brainless' (the band's first single) might fit somewhere. A great build up and a driven energetic track using the trumpet to great effect. Added cat samples accompany and bring a large slab of kitsch, before high quality full guitar riff returns to ensure its' novelty value isn't exhausted. Trumpets most certainly are the future."
