Emulating classic effect units typical
of the 70’s and 80’s. This series is regularly expanded and currently contains nine plugins: Chorus,
Compressor, Delay, Equalizer, Auto-Filter, Flanger, Master Limiter, Phaser and Reverb.
Kjaerhus Audio was founded April 1, 2003 by Torben Kjaerhus Larsen in Denmark. Our main focus of software development is computer based audio processing and production. Our Products are developed to meet the demands of Professional and Semi-professional (ProSumer) sound studios and enthusiastic hobbyists.
Clasic Series goals were simple - make a series of VST plugins that works, feels, looks and most importantly sounds as good as a professional hardware unit. Also, keep it simple and easy to operate. In fact, anyone who knows their way around the hardware units should be able to understand and operate these plugins, without a manual. All plugins in the "Classic Series" will be free downloads on this site as soon as they are released. Don't be fooled by the fact that they are free - they are high quality. Plugins like these normally costs a bundle.
The Classic Delay emulates three of the most commonly used delays / echo sounds types: Tape, Analog, and Digital, but without the introduction of noise. A quality control is included where the sound of the echo machine can be adjusted to give the preferred amount of “imperfection”. The delay can be synchronised to the host, and the feedback can be reversed to give a ping-pong effect.
Features
- Tape-, Analog- and Digital Delay sound
- Ping-pong delay
- Quality control
- Filters
- Presets
- Ultra low CPU usage
- Supports sampling rates up to 96kHz
- Full VST automation
Tips
1. The tape delay type gives you the sound of echo being degraded slightly each time it is fed-back and re-recorded. You can adjust the quality control for the amount of flutter and distortion introduced.
2. The analog delay type has a very "dark" sound due to the low sampling rate and sharp filters used to save analog memory. The "darkness" of the sound can be adjusted via the quality control, which emulates the changing of the sample rate.
3. The digital delay can be adjusted from bright and clean on the highest quality setting, to a “darker” and more noisy / distorted sound if the quality setting is set low. This enables you to emulate the sound of older digital delays with less bit depth and a lower sample rate.

Take a trip back to the mid 80's with our Classic Flanger. It will give you that subtle or massive swirling effect that is used mainly for guitar, but can be used for many other instruments as well. Due to a tightly controlled feedback path, it is possible to boost the flanging effect to maximum without getting unwanted side effects.
Features
- Smooth Flanger effects
- Stereo spread
- Host Synchronization
- Presets
- Ultra low CPU usage
- Supports sampling rates up to 96kHz

The Classic Master Limiter VST plugin is specially designed to boost the overall level of your final mixes, but is also highly useable on very dynamic instruments. With just one control on the front panel operation is as simple as it gets; just turn the Threshold down and hear how your mixes gets louder and louder. Very high compression ratios can be obtained without changing the balance of the mix.
Features
- Loudness maximizing
- Brick wall limiting
- Automatic makeup gain
- VU meter
- Presets
- Very low CPU usage
- Supports sampling rates up to 192kHz
- Full VST automation
Tips
1. Use the Classic Master Limiter on a subgroup with drums only (no Cymbals). This works especially well on dance music styles.
2. If you mix to CD, it is recommended to use a 'dithering' plugin right after the Classic Master Limiter.
3. The Classic Master Limiter is a powerful tool when used correctly, but don't overdo it. Listen carefully to the music while turning the threshold slowly down, if the sound begins to distort, turn the threshold back up a little more.

Classic Compressor is a classic analog style VST Compressor Plugin with a lot of warmth and punch. Special designed to use on individual Instruments and Vocal, but also useable on your final mixes.

The Classic Phaser emulates analog phasers from the 70's and 80's. These vintage phasers got their characteristic sound from the analog phase shifting filters used, unlike the delay lines used in most modern digital phasers. To get a deeper and fatter phasing effect, more filter stages were cascaded. The Classic Phaser works just like an analog phaser, and with selectable filter stages from 4 to 12, it can resemble anything from phaser pedals to expensive studio phasers from that time period.
Features
- Analog modelled phaser effects
- 4 to 12 filter stages
- Stereo spread
- Host Synchronization
- Presets
- Ultra low CPU usage
- Supports sampling rates from 44.1kHz and up
- Full VST automation
Tips
1. The phasing effect is most distinct when the mix is set to 1:1.
2. Use feedback to emphasize the phasing effect, but be careful; high amounts of feedback can give very dynamic signal peaks; a limiter can be used to tame these peaks.
3. Use “Spread” on stereo tracks to make the sound wider.

Features
- Smooth stereo reverb effect
- Ajustable roomsize and damping
- Low cut filter
- Host Synchronization
- Presets
- Low CPU usage
- Supports sampling rates up to 96kHz
- Full VST automation
Tips
1. Due to the smooth reverb tail, this reverb is very well suited for drums.
2. Use the "Lo-Cut" filter to remove rumble from drums and bass guitar.
